Frequently Asked Questions about the Days Between Dates Calculator
Does the end date count in the days between?
No. You get the count of full days from the start date up to but not including the end date. January 1 to January 3 is 2 days, the same way you count rental nights or contract durations.
How does this differ from a date difference calculator?
Both show the total day count, a weeks-and-days breakdown, a years/months/days span, and a workdays-versus-weekends split. The date difference calculator adds the same gap expressed in hours, minutes, and seconds, which this page leaves out.
Are US federal holidays subtracted from workdays?
No. Workdays here means Monday through Friday only. For holiday-aware counting, use the business days calculator, which can exclude the US federal holidays modeled for the selected range.
Does the order of the two dates matter?
No. The calculator uses the absolute difference, so swapping the start and end dates gives the same totals. The earlier date always acts as the lower bound for the workday count.
Does daylight saving time change the result?
No. The calculator works on calendar dates, not clock time, so spring-forward and fall-back transitions never add or remove a day from the count.
